The Blue Chronometer offers a refined approach to high precision and impeccable chronometric properties. It features an innovative 39mm case crafted from tantalum, a rare metal with a slightly bluish, anthracite gray hue. Named after the "tantalum torture" in Greek mythology, it is a hard and difficult-to-machine material (melting point of 3016°C and density of 16.65 g/cm³). Tantalum is prized for its exceptional resistance to corrosion and wear, and is perfectly biocompatible.
In perfect harmony with the case color, the dial was designed with a trendy chrome blue aesthetic, featuring cream-colored hands and large Arabic numerals.
The 18K rose gold hand-wound mechanical movement of the blue chronometer oscillates at a rate of 21600 vibrations per hour. Two mainspring barrels, in the classic configuration of precision watches, operate in parallel to provide stable power for most of its 56-hour power reserve.
The F.P.Journe racketless chronometric balance, with variable inertia distributed over four opposite weights, undergoes dynamic adjustment in six different positions.
